Close collaboration with community and landowners in the Markham Valley in Papua New Guinea is crucial for our 30 MW biomass power project. We take local consultation and engagement very serious. In monthly meetings we provide project progress updates, important information, and a space to listen to concerns and address questions and issues.
The below video provides an overview of a local stakeholder consultation held in November 2017 with landowners and communities in the Markham Valley, Provincial stakeholders from Morobe Province in Lae, and National stakeholders in Port Moresby. The purpose of the meetings was to provide project progress updates, roll-out an updated Community Grievance Mechanism, and have consultants from South Pole explain and answer questions on carbon, climate change, and the use of carbon credits in the PNG Biomass project.
